In 2015, the broad-based coalition Freedom for all Massachusetts formed to update Massachusetts’s longstanding civil rights laws to include nondiscrimination protections for transgender people in all public spaces. By June 2016, this bill was passed in the Legislature with overwhelming bipartisan support, and went into effect in October. Opponents of the law collected the minimum number of required signatures to put a veto of this law on the November 2018 ballot.
In the spring of 2018, Field First was hired as a consultant by Freedom for all Massachusetts (FFAM) to help with their campaign to uphold transgender rights in Massachusetts. In June 2018, Field First was hired as the campaign manager to work with the campaign steering committee and staff coordinate the fundraising, field, communications, operations, and coalition-building arms to lead the campaign to success. On November 6th, 2018, Yes on 3 won a historic victory to uphold transgender rights on the ballot. Learn more about our work for this client here.
